SCRIBAL EVANGELIST As the only living certified Soferet (סופרת - female Jewish ritual scribe) & the first woman to practice sofrut (creation of sacred Hebrew texts) in over 200 years, I feel an obligation to blog about my experiences of The Work. I am also currently researching the foundation of a lost tradtion of women practicing this holy craft. For more on the services I provide, please see Soferet.com; Sofrut Nation. I am now available to engage with students, male or female, wishing to enter into the preliminary stage of learning sofrut. You are welcome to join me on this path. A POTENTIAL FOREMOTHER

BS"D

Written Out of History: Our Jewish Foremothers – Sondra Henry & Emily Taitz 1983 Second Edition, Revised Biblio Press

p114
“It was rare to find a footnote such as this one by an anonymous woman:

‘I beseech the reader not to judge me harshly when he finds that mistakes have crept into this work; for when I was engaged in copying it, God blessed me with a son, and thus I could not attend to my business properly.’”

See Goitein, Sidrei Hinukh, p. 64

...So there seems to be evidence of a gap between theory & practice. Definitely worth further investigation.
