SCRIBAL EVANGELIST As the only living certified Soferet (סופרת - female Jewish ritual scribe) & the first woman to practice sofrut (creation of sacred Hebrew texts) in over 200 years, I feel an obligation to blog about my experiences of The Work. I am also currently researching the foundation of a lost tradtion of women practicing this holy craft. For more on the services I provide, please see Soferet.com; Sofrut Nation. I am now available to engage with students, male or female, wishing to enter into the preliminary stage of learning sofrut. You are welcome to join me on this path. JON STEWART WILL INHERIT OLAM HABA

BS"D

If you didn't catch last night's episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, you absolutely MUST download it here & catch what he did with a New York Post article about NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg's recent diplomatic trip to Israel...

I will write an update on my current Megilat Esther soon.

I know nothing about red string and Judaism, but the article reminded me of this site, one of several in the Phazedance group by an artist who goes by the name of Frogdot:

Enjoy!

I LOVED these images, Peter! Thanks for sending in this link! I especially liked the one with the stormy water & the red rope threaded through the spindly tree at the shore. Very cool.

I think this is a great addition to the bendel posts, what with the colour red & the concept of binding being such viscerally primal symbols...
