SCRIBAL EVANGELIST As the only living certified Soferet (סופרת - female Jewish ritual scribe) & the first woman to practice sofrut (creation of sacred Hebrew texts) in over 200 years, I feel an obligation to blog about my experiences of The Work. I am also currently researching the foundation of a lost tradtion of women practicing this holy craft. For more on the services I provide, please see Soferet.com; Sofrut Nation. I am now available to engage with students, male or female, wishing to enter into the preliminary stage of learning sofrut. You are welcome to join me on this path. :) das right!
Hey, I'm so sorry that I didn't call you before I left NY, so I'm publicly apologising to you right now. You drove up to see me, so calling was the least I could do. Besides, I wanted to call you! I'll try you during Pesach...bli neder...
I wish we could have spent more time together & some alone, too - maybe next time! Or if you & W come to Lotusland, know you have a home here, ok?

So - the above picture is of what my mentor-sofer wrote the first time he watched me form my letters. I was nervously writing the letter Bet, the letter he started me on, over & over as he sat next to me at his drawing table. When I finished my first line, I looked up to accept his criticism when I saw him writing this sideways at 90 degrees with great ease.

It was his subtle way of reminding me I had to always be present with The Work.

Since I returned from learning with him almost 3 years ago, it has hung on the wall above my workspace, directly at my eye level.

Where are you?
